Bathroom remodels are one of the more popular types of remodeling jobs because they add more value to your home and make it more appealing for potential buyers. One of the easiest ways to change the style in your bathroom and give it a new look is by adding a new tile layout. There are many different styles you can use, including tiles that mimic the look of something else.

Brickwork is a unique and unusual way to change the look of your bathroom. This tile layout idea consists of larger tiles that mimic the look of brick. When laid along the wall in your bathroom or placed around your mirror, it looks like there’s brick, but it’s actually ceramic or glass tile.

You can find these tiles made from recycled glass, which comes in both lighter and darker colors. Additionally these tiles are made to look like metal pieces, which can give your bathroom a slightly cooler appearance.

Checkerboard is one of the most common types of tile layouts and it works especially well if you use two contrasting shades such as white and black or red and white. The tiles lay beside each other, with no two touching tiles being the same color.

You can make things look different by using three or more colors and laying those alongside each other. The checkerboard pattern works on the walls and floor, but looks better when you use a solid shade on one area and the checkerboard on another.

The basket weave tile layout looks nice in a bathroom. It’s often used in other spaces such as the kitchen. Here, the tiles are laid out in a way that makes it look like each one is woven together.

You use two types of tiles, with one half the size of the other. You start the pattern with one smaller tile, then the larger and alternate back and forth, then start with one of the larger tiles on the next row. You can opt for contrasting colors, but this layout also looks good when you use complementary colors such as two shades of light blue.

A mosaic tile layout works best when used in small doses, such as around your mirror or placed as a surround with your bathtub. The advantage to using a mosaic tile layout is that you don’t need to spend a lot of time worrying about what goes where.

You can use any shades that work with the rest of your bathroom and in any size. Some homeowners even buy several shades of tiles and break those tiles into different pieces to create a unique and interesting look.
